چکیده

A novel method for segmentation of heart sounds (HSs) into single cardiac cycle (S1-Systole-S2-Diastole) using homomorphic filtering and K-means clustering is presented. Feature vectors were formed after segmentation by using Daubechies-2 wavelet detail coefficients at the second decomposition level. These feature vectors were then used as input to the neural networks. Grow and Learn (GAL) and Multilayer perceptron-Backpropagation (MLP-BP) neural networks were used for classification of three different HSs (Normal, Systolic murmur and Diastolic murmur). It was observed that the classification performance of GAL was similar to MLP-BP. However, the training and testing times of GAL were lower as compared to MLPBP. The proposed framework could be a potential solution for automatic analysis of HSs that may be implemented in real time for classification of HSs. # 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Determining the effective features in classification of heart sounds using trained intelligent network and genetic algorithm

Heart diseases are among the most important causes of mortality in the world, especially in industrial countries. Using heart sounds and the features extracted from them are among the non-aggressive diagnosis and prognosis methods for heart diseases. In this study, the time-scale, Cepstral, frequency, temporal and turbulence features are saved and extracted from the heart sounds, and then they ...

Effect of sound classification by neural networks in the recognition of human hearing

In this paper, we focus on two basic issues: (a) the classification of sound by neural networks based on frequency and sound intensity parameters (b) evaluating the health of different human ears as compared to of those a healthy person. Sound classification by a specific feed forward neural network with two inputs as frequency and sound intensity and two hidden layers is proposed. This process...

A New Method to Improve Automated Classification of Heart Sound Signals: Filter Bank Learning in Convolutional Neural Networks

Introduction: Recent studies have acknowledged the potential of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in distinguishing healthy and morbid samples by using heart sound analyses. Unfortunately the performance of CNNs is highly dependent on the filtering procedure which is applied to signal in their convolutional layer. The present study aimed to address this problem by a...

Non-invasive Monitoring of Knee Pathology based on Automatic Knee Sound Classification

Knee joint sounds, generated during the active flexion and extension of the leg, represent acoustic signals caused by joint vibration and can be used as useful indicators of the roughness, softening, breakdown, or the state of lubrication of the articular cartilage surface. This paper describes an efficient algorithm in order to improve the classification accuracy of the features obtained from ...
